"Back years and years ago, when the world was new, we used what is called, “hypnotic gaze induction.” It’s a great discipline to learn, even if you don’t use it to actually induce a trance. It involves experiencing what you want the other person to feel, and then projecting that feeling to them. The ‘gaze’ itself, is just a lens to concentrate the projection. Very few words are spoken. In those days, it was believed that you were using your will to forcefully induce a trance. It’s now called rapport, mirroring, and pacing, but it was at a much deeper level, because it was literally two people communicating at a purely subconscious level."

Somewhat correct; what I'm projecting, first and foremost, is that I am in control of myself, and that I am, in some sense, already "inside" her, and that she is comfortable and safe with the surrender to me.

But you have to understand that, as a teacher, I have to lead students progressively from where they are to where they can be. So I segment things in progressive steps.

As you'll see in the next couple of weeks, I'll be assisting Bob in building that state of relaxed, will-centered, will-infused, will-directed self-awareness. We'll do it ritually at first and then reinforce it with light trance
"
"Now… I’m a newbie here, trying to make sense of it all, but the techniques I see you using aren’t so dissimilar to what we practiced, back in the day. It’s not about ‘patter,’ learning a series of patterns to deliver in sequence. It’s more about mental preparation and discipline; reaching that state of pure subconscious communication, so that she will link to your subconscious, see herself as you see her, and act on your subconscious desires. The patterns, anchors, and embbedded commands are all great tools, but if you focus on creating that subconscious link, instead, those tools become less significant."

I have to agree and disagree; while the heart of it is the vibe and the "subconscious link", the bones and muscle are the commands and suggestions.

Think of this metaphor: the vibe, the unconscious link, etc are like the conductive medium. The patterns, commands, suggestions are the electricity that you send across. Each supports the other, acting in concert.

No competent hypnotist would deny the power and the necessity of the operator's state and subconscious connection with the subject. But no competent hypnotist would then deny himself the power of using his language in a structured way to potentiate what he'd created with that state.

Do you seriously think Erickson, for example, ONLY relied on his state and his connection with the patient? Or did he use that as a gateway to offer very structured sugggestions, commands, stories and metaphors?

So both theoretically, and demonstrably, your interpretation is only partially correct.

More to the point, experiment for yourself. Try it with and without the commands and suggestions and stories and see what happens with the ladies. Do enough trial runs to let sufficient data percolate up for you to fairly judge.

"From what I’m seeing in these videos, Bob lacks personal confidence. His voice is like fingernails on a blackboard. He needs to strengthen his belief in himself so his voice exhibits inner strength."

That's what I'm working with him on, covertly and overtly. Keep watching.

" He seems to be focusing on the tools, instead of focusing on creating the subconscious connection he needs to develop. Honesty and safety promote a strong connection. Corny PUA lines will only serve to make her defensive, as shown by her, “And you’re incredibly forward,” line."

Her response was banter, not defense. And more to the point, the only way to see what lines do is to use them yourself and observe experimentally, rather than theoretically. So go see what happens.

"If you want to be in control, make it actively about you! Don’t tell her SHE looks gorgeous. Tell her you saw her and YOU had an overwhelming desire to talk to her. If the first words out of your mouth are about her looks, you’ll have to work VERY hard to overcome her defense mechanism, because she’s going to feel like she’s about to become the victim of a PUA."

It entirely depends on what you surround it with, your attitude when you say it, and what follows it in the sequence.

But good, strong commentary. Do please commenting and following along in the series.
