Thanks Ross. I would like to use this clip on my blog where I discuss similar issues for men learning to be more seductive & confident. I still find this to be one of the most daunting challenges, namely reminding myself to track what is working as opposed to just only focusing on the outcome.

And Ross’ style looks really cool is this video…reminds me of Bruce lLee style and Jkd training to “be like water”

    RJ@,

I picked up “How We Decide” a couple of weeks ago, and it’s quite good. Goes well with your advice here, as it shows how we learn from our practical mistakes, and how an attitude of desiring to learn from mistakes is essential to mastering anything. I’m good at grounding, connecting, story telling, and several forms of calibrating, but these just give me some cheap victories. I know there are whole areas I’m missing. Time to keep a journal, and get out and practice by finding weaknesses. Fun stuff.

    Spot on as ever Ross.
I have been advocating the use of a notebook or Journal for years. Digital recorders can appear creepy if discovered.
How many times have people said, “don’t worry I will remember that” only to find….
Writing something down allows you to review and analyze your performance and also hardwires the brain with the info.
There is a post on my blog, accessible through my website or facebook page that is one of 6 posts advocating carrying a notebook and you feature in the latest…the poem you wanted to recall at Hyper Response in 2003 in London. I had made extensive notes from your hyper response videos and you used the notes to recite the poem.

    It works people…it works!

As Tony Robbins says, repetition is the mother of skill, I’m noticing most of what you’re teaching is starting to get repetitive, I’m aware of the fact that learning something requires repetition.
Even Shinzen Young says that, he gave the way that he learned math as an example. He read one book 6 times until it all made sense to him.

“duh”. Not only does it become a gold mine in times to come, the process itself creates positive effects that can only be experienced.

Writing down what I did and especially focusing first on what I did right or well works wonders. Every time it stops the circle of rumination and self pity and opens up to real learning.

And whenever I find myself in that state of rumination, every time I conclude that I have skipped the journal.

I’ve been wanting to try out the opener, “I hear when a women wears the color red to the shopping mall, it usually means there’s a fire sale at Macy’s.”

The woman actually wearing red (standing in line at the coffee stand in the mall) didn’t feel like a good subject, but when another sidled up looking much cuter, so I leaned over and asked her, “Is it true?”
    “What?”
“When a women wears the color red to the shopping mall, it usually means there’s a fire sale at Macy’s.”
    “I don’t know.”
“I’ve been noticing a lot of aqua blue for the past month, what’s that about?”
    “I don’t know.”
“You look pretty stylishly dressed. I though you might be in the know.”
    “I don’t know.”

I think I’m doing the “gay approach” wrong!

Next time cutie sidles up to me like that I do the fake like I know her, “Oh, there you are! Did you find everything you were looking for today?”
